An old milestone reached, my latest pet belf mage dinged 40 and promptly got her chocobo hawkstrider.
I picked the blue one, after spending a long time weighing it against the black one.
While writing this post, I suddenly came to the realization that in almost three years in the game, this is only my 6th toon to get a mount. Before that, I had:
- A Rogue
- A Warlock
- A Paladin
- A Hunter
- A Shaman
Interestingly enough, 4 out of the six toons are fast levelers, only the paladin and the shaman considered slow-leveling classes.
That being said, I think I’m going to have to start farming lots of cloth soon. There’s plenty of things blizzard have done right with blood elves, Silvermoon, and their starter areas. Mounts aren’t part of that.

Gratz on the mount. Does feel nice to not be running anymore unlessby choice.
I’m no longer in raiding mode, just spending time leveling a few alts till WotLK. In the time I’ve played my dedication went to one character and it will be my main into WotLK. But for now trying to level maybe 2-3 alts to 60+ before it arrives for R&R fun times.
My Hunter is now 47 as of last night. He got his mount a week ago. Was really nice when he did as well. Funny thing was for the first level I kept running and forget he even had a Mount, a purple HawkStrider. I have no plans to gear up any if my alts for blue gear other than a very vast armory of gear I’ve collected on my main that sits in my personal Banker Guild Bank, which has variety of Blues and Epics and somebsilid greens. Will let the alts have fun questing for gear in WotLK to make it fun and so know what’s in the game content vs blowing it all by in the next expansion not needingbthe gear.
Anyway gratz. Too bad you play on a EU server vs a US one.
I actually like the blood elf mounts. It really irritates me, for some unknown reason, that there are dinosaurs in WoW, so the troll or tauren (kodos are close enough to dinosaurs to irk me) mounts would be completely out of question! Good thing I play Alliance, where all the mounts are viable except those gnome things that clank and sputter exhaust!
