The Bleeding Obvious, Leveling Speed Differences

I’ve been playing on my alliance shaman lately, and reached level 28 this week-end. I happen to also have a level 28 paladin on that same server, so just for reminding me that even is shamans are said to be slow in leveling until they get Windfury (or even Stormstrike), killing a single mob is still about thrice as fast when compared to a Ret paladin, Verigan’s Fist or not. Even if I drink a lot more often on the shaman, the fact that this is supposed to be the dps hybrid is very apparent.
Gonna have to mooch an RFK run soon, the Corpsemaker is simply too good to pass up for the coming couple of levels.

I cannot help but feel admiration for all people with enough patience and dedication to level more than one paladin to 70. I know I couldn’t do it myself. I currently have a hard time bearing going through the 60-70 range a second time - I also picked up my good old rusty level 60 lock and finished HFP quests until level 62 with her. She’s gonna sit around in Zangarmarsh for a little while though. The contrast between patch 2.3-enhanced level 20-59 leveling and 60+ is currently a bit stark.

Told you this was an obvious post.

Every single one of my alts that I have spent more then 10 minutes on in last year is now 60+ after the leveling changes. Unfortunately they are all now sitting in low 60’s. Part of that is 2.4, SSO rep on multiple 70 and working on trinkets for them keep me busy.

I suppose an alternate option for leveling is to concentrate on the pre-60 toons, and see if Blizzard alter the 60-70 grind when WotLK is launched. Given a starting toon will have to go through 80 levels, I think its likely that we’ll see further adjustment to the leveling rates. 6–70 was a tad of a grind, but I really think its related to the class+spec you choose to grind. I hope my magfe is chewing through mobs at the same rate as now in the 61+ regions, and I doubt I’ll even notice the grind. Unlike a healer priest, pally, shammy, druid, which are all terrible to grind with, let alone a prot pally or warrior.

Kinda the same reason that I’m not fussed about Kara gear on my alts. The expansion will kibosh the Kara level gear, and the badge gear is already better; so I don’t see Kara having a purpose, except for badge farming.

I have a 70 pally and warlock, and a 35 mage in the works. In the next 3-4 months the Mage will get a good look in. Perhaps to get to 60 before the expansion.
