Yeah, had to delete three comments from him this morning…
Bastard found my blog last night.
Apparently his IP changes though
He’s tagging up my blog over and over.. someone help!
You know that bastard is crawling everywhere like a cockroach.
Its just my thought but you looking around at places yesterday and today its my thinking that whoever this guy is they seem to me using bloggers blog roll to get all over the place. Just my thought really as to how this guy is getting everywhere.
Pingback: Bloggers: How to Deal with Gold Sellers : World of Matticus
Hes not a person at all, its a program.
Its an internet spider, crawler or agent ( depending on POV) that just follows the links from your system to all the other blogs, eventually hitting all of them. (same way google spider works essentially, just smaller scale)
He’s spoofing the ip address, so posting it is a waste of time ( in this case its an electrical company )
On the plus side, at least your spam filter caught it, but it wont go away, They’ve got your blog on a list, and if they are smart, they are going to be selling that list to other gold sellers for the extra cash.
Your service provider might have better luck tracking the original site, if they are willing/able to put a tracking filter on your account, but I wouldnt count on it, since technically, being an a@@hat isnt illegal, and posting to blogs is hardly a federal offense ( so far…)
Some of the pictogram blocks will stop these programs, but not all of them will. Google makes the best one, and anyone based on it will work for you, some are so bad they can be machine read anyways, and otehrs are so bad that PEOPLE cant read them, defeating the purpose entirely.
Good luck in blocking him though, Ive seen complaints from about 6 of the WOW blogs I read today, and if its that prolific, its gonna be a while to get rid of it. Can you set your filter to automatically kill any message with that name, or the keywords it uses? Probably the best you a e going to get.
Would a bot try to reply thx.lol to this thread? He’s still plonked, though.
As for unsolicited commenting, it may not be a federal offense. I’m not on an US host, though, and here spamming happens to be illegal.
the problem with keyword filters is that they can catch honest posts, something complaining about goldsoon being an ass or Warcraft Gold can be hard to get before you have the mount (ie its hard to make gold for the epic flying mount when you are locked out of the quests it unlocks) or any such thing would cause issue
Thing is, your post didn’t get filtered out
Akismet sure doesn’t filter on words alone, that would be what you get in WordPress out of the box.
