The Long Learning Process: WP Themes

While the current template on Altitis will do for the moment, I’m actually keen to make something really my own. I have therefore starting the work on a new, customized theme for my own purpose, which will also allow me to improve my otherwise rather limited CSS skills.

Getting used to the conventions and how the various WordPress theme files are structured and separated is a long learning curve for me. After an hour of tweaking, I finally got the sidebars to display the widgets I wanted… which they didn’t so far because I missed one of those many small things which tend to make snippet-based coding so frustrating for the amateur I am.

Anyway, expect some change in a couple of days or so, when I finally get everything working the exact way I want it to.

Good luck with that! If you would like another challenge, figure out how to make my theme so the sidebars are both on the right. ;)

Seriously, I admire anyone who can create such stuff. I imagine I could do it if I really wanted to take the time to learn from scratch, but I simply don’t have the time to start at the kindergarten level and skill up. But that would take away from my playtime, and to me, that’s more important right now.

Well if you can manage to send me your theme files I think I have learned enough to do that, at least :) If you are interested, drop me a mail.
