Starting the new season

Season 2′s end wasn’t exactly a brilliant thing for Steptoe and me – due to scheduling issues, we had two weeks within the last three where the only opportunity to play available was Tuesday evening, starting at 23:00 server time. With queues around 12 minutes, you can guess what happened there – we didn’t have time to get 10 games in before rolling over into the next week. And so season 2 ended for us, not in a bang, but in a whimper, as the saying goes. 1630 on the new server. Still, we carved that one within just two weeks of effective games, and at least got challenger titles out of it. Steptoe doesn’t like it, though, he was duellist at the end of S1. Then again, Steptoe is often grumpy, so…
Scheduling was a tad better this week, so we managed to get in 6 games so far. And while we’re at 4 wins in there, we are currently unable to lift off 1515, as if there were some gravity well sucking us back down every time we close in on 1540ish or so. It’s really like we get an amazingly easy game followed by one with a full s2-s3 glad gear headed straight to the 2000+ for the moment. But we’ll get there, and I expect next week when people (including us) have started settling into their “natural” skill ecosystem things will become more straightforward.
Our objectives for S3 are pretty aggressive for a casual team like us, we want to enter the 1800 space, ideally of course reaching the magical 1850. But we’ll see where we land.

And on 3v3? We started a team back when jumping servers, and following Megan‘s advice, took on a rogue. Unfortunately, though, that rogue was the same one I had issues with in the past (she left the guild though, and the GM simply told me not to worry about the whole matter), so a swift kick left that team at 2 members and 0 games played in S2. We had little motivation to actually go shopping aggressively for a third member in the meantime, but now that we know our guildmates a bit better, we finally picked a mage. Reasoning that with the goodness coming for them in 2.3.2, several of the class’ inherent weaknesses will have been eased a bit. I think it’s also going to be interesting working with two CC classes. The mage also shares our basic philosophy: being casual, striving to improve ourselves every week, competitivity shouldn’t get in the way of having fun. We’re all three fully prepared to tank down into the 1300s before we operate as a team, so our only remaining worry will be to ensure we can schedule enough games to play.

We’ll see where it goes, and you can bet I’ll write about it.

Competition atm is tough as old teams come out of the woodworks to regain their higher ratings.

Your 3′s lineup is Mage/Paladin/Warlock? Good setup for killing off Warriors first. COT/Fear on their Healer, Nova/Sheep on their DPS, gib their Warrior through BOP with 2 Magic based classes.

Yup, we’re now a M/P/W team. Thanks for the advice, we certainly can use any bit of your experience :)
