Blog tweaking: one Newsfeed to rule them all

In my quest to make Altitis more to my liking, I had redirected my post feed to Feedburner. However, at the bottom of the site one would still find the old “subscribe to posts (Atom)” link, which would give access to the original, non-feedburned feed.

After almost gouging my own eyes out trying to find how to remove it in the templates, I finally found out how to hide it.
In your Blogger Dashboard, select manage Layout, then pick edit HTML. In the <head> section, you will first find variable definitions, followed by CSS styles. Browse down till you find .feed-link and insert display:none; between the style definition’s brackets, like this:

.feed-link {
other-templatestuff:xxx;
display: none; //inserted to hide Subscribe to Posts (Atom)
}

Of course, if you’re on Blogger, plan to stay there and aren’t a stat junkie like me, you could continue to do perfectly well with the default Atom feed, which does well. If you are in my situation, though, Feedburner doesn’t just merely give you more stats about your subscribers, but also comes with a couple of enhancement to both your feeds and your posts (like adding the digg and del.icio.us links I now have below my posts).
Last but not least, redirecting to Feedburner provides you with an abstraction layer between your blog and your feed. Which means that if you wish to move to a different blogging system like some of our WoW blogging peers have done recently, the change will remain totally transparent for your Feedburner readers.
