As the name may suggest, we’re again reviewing yet another one of Rabbit’s small but invaluable Addons, BuffProtectorGnome.
As the author himself describes it, have you ever right-clicked on the wrong buff and realized, too late, that you just wasted a flask or elixir with 58 minutes left?
Well, Rabbit has, and I have, and I suspect we’re not the only people.
BuffProtectorGnome is even simpler than ErrorMonster: select what buffs you want to protect (there’s a handy option allowing you to pick all known to characterkind, or you can enter a limited set manually) and, uh, you’re good to go.
Now whenever you try to click off any of your protected buffs, you will get a confirmation window asking you whether you want to cancel your buff or keep (protect) it. Oh, I know, when dealing with software of any kind, confirmation windows are the most annoying thing after a while. If you don’t need BPG, you can disable it. But when you’re in a raid, better look twice before removing 5g worth of elixir because you’re distracted.
In Summary, BuffProtectorGnome is, again, a little Ace2 utility with focussed, and very narrow, purpose. Should you use it? If you never tire and never get distracted, no. If you do, however, get it. You will eventually thank yourself (and Rabbit) that you did.
