You’d think staying 2.5 years in this game would give me some clue about how to swim in gold. This isn’t so. I’m now sitting at a measily 2100g, not even half of what is needed for that blasted 300 riding skill, a misery painfully amassed since I dinged 70 4 months ago.
So after dumping JC for disenchanting (a move I’ve regretted every day since, as prospecting actually makes more money than DE, at least on the last two servers I’ve played), I went back to basics, two gathering profs – I still have mining and picked up daisies-plucking as a complement. Which I’ve started levelling slowly but, hopefully, steadily. Undoubtedly, once I cap it, I’ll start believing into a different money-making scheme and dump it again, only to regret it moments later, but hey, I’m in no particuliar hurry either. It’s not as if I had a set appointment with my first fast flyer.

Nice move that of dumping DE! Especially now that you need to actually LEVEL ench in order to DE stuff!
My main is a 70 druid, dinged 70 less than 2 weeks ago, and had it not been for leveling Enchanting, (and for spending some mats on chants for my alts!), I believe I could have been easily over 3000g by now. In fact, I’ve spent around 700+g just this past week gearing up for tanking after seeing I was the “weakest link” in a CoT:Old Hilsbrad run…
I’m still way far from the 5000g and not even completed some of the pre-quests for the dailies as some require full 5-man groups, but I’ve been questing very efficiently and amassing some hundred gold per hour or so, so things are going good.
In retrospect, having picked up Mining+Herb would probably have been “healthier” from a money making POV, but I’ve been having fun which is what a game is for!
But, I’m now taking much more care with spending money, and resisting the spending urge so I can save enough for my Druid’s 280% speed Swift Flight Form. Of course, having a 62 hunter ready to continue leveling to 70 will help a bit, I hope! And that one is a herb+skin so it’s not too bad at making gold…

I played mage and i’ve lost easily 1.5k gold just from respeccing fire->frost->fire->arcane->fire->frost, sometimes respeccing more than once in a single day lol.
