So you have a pet and care about its health in tricky AoE situations, like boss fights.
The coming patch will bring some AI improvements to hunter pets which will try to keep in the enemy’s back whenever possible. However, until the patch goes live, there’s something you can do to ensure your pet stays at the mobs back even when you need to recall it to avoid a cleave or AoE or whatever.
Get to a position at least 90° or more to the side of the monster you will be fighting, at a distance. Put your pet or minion on stay.
Engage combat. When you need to call back your pet, hit the pet passive command. The pet will run back to its stay position, not your side, ideally positionned to go back to your enemy’s back when you tell it to attack again.
