WTB Tank

Interesting convergence here. After spending 32 levels as a prot pallie, I respecced to Shockadin for the final stretch. Remained holy after reaching 70. The thing is, I can’t get any instance run as holy. Every single group looking for all these nice instances which popped up in my LFG menu have their healer but no tank.

So I went through the weekly 10 games with my arena partner, Steptoe the warlock (would have been 5-5 but as one game didn’t register for the players while it was counted for the team because of some odd loading bug, we played and lost an 11th), and then off to SMC for a respec.

Not having really instanced since level 66, my gear is still pretty gimped at this stage, so the tough stuff will have to wait. Went to Auchenai Crypts on Saturday as a warm up, wiped once on Shirrak (as usual), cleaned the rest fast and without fuss. The run did nothing for my gear but it was good to get a feel of what level 70 brings, mainly a higher mana consumption, and the feeling of being endlessly thirsty. I wish they would have found a way to keep mana returns on overheals from Spiritual Attunement for tankadins. Oh well.

And as a funny epilogue, on Sunday I get a /w out of the blue from one of the newer Kara guilds on the server telling me they want healers. Aside from being the GM of my own casual / social guild and having playtimes incompatible with most organized raids anyway, I answered I was a tank - to which the recruiter replied “well, can’t you respec or something?”.

Uhm, no. Even if I had no other commitments, for some reason it strikes me as incredible rude to /w someone you’ve never met in-game, never partied with, heck never talked to in-game so far and ask him to respec to healbot so that he can join your awesome guild.
Way to make you feel subservient before you even get your /ginvite.

Note for would-be recruitment officers and raid leaders: It is one thing to ask your regular members to spec healer for raiding, or to post wanted ads asking for healers. There are plenty of players who either love healing (I don’t mind it myself BTW) or will be keen on doing what is best for their guild out there. Asking a complete stranger to respec just so he can join your oh-so-awesome guild he hasn’t applied to is a different thing altogether. To me this strikes me as about just as rude as the four blind invites any unguilded priest will get the moment he dings 10. If you can’t be bothered to at least pretend showing some interest in a player YOU want to recruit, I doubt your guild has anything to bring me and therefore I don’t believe there’s anything I can bring you either.

‘Nuff said.
